For most of us, Christmas is the “most wonderful time of the year,” and this 9-year-old cancer patient wants to make sure he gets to celebrate it one last time with his family this year.
Jacob Thompson was diagnosed with Stage 4 High-Risk Neuroblastoma when he was just five years old. Despite all the odds, Jacob is nine years old and really looking forward to Christmas this year.
“Jacob loves Christmas,” said his father, Roger Guay.
Even though he has fought his battle with cancer so well these past four years, it looks like cancer has gained the upper hand these last few months. This could very well be Jacob’s last Christmas.
Fresh off of his Halloween celebration, where Jacob dressed up as a penguin, it’s on to the next holiday. To make sure that Jacob gets the full Christmas experience, Jacob’s family are celebrating Christmas early this year as festivities begin next weekend.
“We do want to decorate the tree,” said Roger, his father. “I’m not sure what kind of tree we can put in here, if it’s a fire hazard or whatever. But we do have a tree planned out with decorations.”
Not only will there be a tree, but there will be fake snow and even an appearance from Santa Claus himself.
Like any nine-year-old boy, Jacob is looking forward to receiving presents and Christmas cards from family and friends. If any one of you readers are looking to make Jacob’s last Christmas extra special, his family have posted his address so you can wish him a Merry Christmas yourself.

His father, Roger, says that he would love to hear from anyone this Christmas. “Just to show that people love and care for him and show their support,” said Roger. “Anyway to brighten his day would be a great benefit to him.”
