If you aren’t familiar with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood’s relationship and how it blossomed, here’s a recap: Garth and Trisha met in 1987 while recording a demo. Garth was currently married at the time, but he knew something was different when he met Trisha.
The two stayed friends for years until Garth and Trisha divorced their former spouses. After time had passed, the two became romantically involved with one another and got married in 2005.
Today, the platinum-selling, multiple Grammy- and CMA-winning country legends have been married for 12 years. The couple has been enjoying their time touring and recording together.
What we are most charmed about is what Garth continues to call Trisha after all this time. A nickname he’s called her since day one —“Queen.”
"I'm like, 'Garth, we've been married for 12 years. We've known each other for 26 years. You can call me 'Trisha.' Like, it's cool,'" Trisha told Jenna Bush Hager from the Today Show.
"But he still does it, and now he has other people doing it," Trisha added. "Like, 'So what does the Queen think?'"
As for the Queen and Garth, they are coming home for Christmas. After 400 shows together, the couple is ready to settle down for the holidays and spend time with their family. Trisha is also busy with her Food Network show, “Trisha’s Southern Kitchen.”
"What I love about Christmas is you get the chance to be your best self," Trisha said. "I encourage everybody at the holidays to just be a little more patient. Look people in the eye on the street. Say, 'Merry Christmas,' 'Happy Holidays,' whatever you say means, 'I love you,' so just say it."
