Several weeks ago, we wrote about a challenge that Chip Gaines posed to his followers on Instagram. For several months, Chip had been growing out his hair. In the final season of “Fixer Upper,” his hair looks like a lion’s mane.
While his lion-inspired hair (and facial hair) might match Chip’s goofy personality, most people weren’t very fond of it. In fact, even in the preview for Season 5, Joanna mentions how crazy it is.
Several weeks ago, Chip agreed to cut his hair, but he wanted to do it for a good cause. Because so many people wanted him to, he posted a picture sharing that he would cut his hair if his followers put their money where their mouths are.
Chip set up a donation website so that fans could donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. He gave his followers four days to raise as much money as they could. The more money they raised, the shorter he would cut his hair.
In the four days that Chip gave them, his fans donated $230,092 to the St. Jude hospital. When Chip and Joanna visited the hospital, they were able to hand over that check.
That wasn’t the end of it, though. Chip is an honest man, so, of course, he had to shave his head. Check out this video Chip posted on his Instagram page.
Joanna posted a picture of Chip on her Instagram page. In the photo, children from the St. Jude hospital are crowded around Chip, touching his bald head. He’s in the middle with that goofy grin that we’ve all grown to know and love.
