Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel’s baby boy William John, or “Billy” as he is known as, has had a rough start to his life. Despite everything, he continues to fight the good fight.

Billy was born with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with pulmonary atresia and underwent surgery at just 3-days-old. TOF with pulmonary atresia is a type of congenital heart defect where the heart has five abnormalities.

One abnormality is a hole in the wall of the heart that separates the lower right and left heart chambers. The other four abnormalities make it very difficult for the heart to move blood to the lungs.

“Basically, the pulmonary valve was completely blocked, and he has a hole in the wall between the left and right sides of his heart,” said Kimmel in a monologue in May.

Yesterday, ABC announced that Billy “had a scheduled and successful heart surgery.” Kimmel is spending this time with his family and will have celebrity guests fill in as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the remainder of the week.

The hosts for the next four shows will be Chris Pratt, Tracee Ellis Ross, Neil Patrick Harris, and Melissa McCarthy.

About a month ago, when Channing Tatum was filling in as host, Kimmel shared a video of him pranking his 3-year-old daughter, Jane, by telling her he ate all her Halloween candy.
