Margaret Smith, 63, was taken to the hospital as her health was rapidly in decline. Smith had been suffering from liver cancer for over a year but was too sick to survive a transplant.

While at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, in Nashville, Tennessee, nurse Olivia Nuefelder did her best to comfort Smith. Her favorite song, “Dancing in the Sky” by Dani and Lizzy, seemed to be the perfect song for the moment.

Smith’s daughter, Megan, posted a video of their duet on Facebook, and it instantly went viral. The video has over 4.5 million views since it was posted just last week.

Megan’s post read, “This nurse sat with my mom for hours… and sang a very special song to my sweet mother to comfort her. You never left her side by choice!! Words cannot describe the appreciation and love we feel for nurse Olivia who mom calls her angel! Your dedication to your patients is beyond any that I have seen, you truly are a beam of light, and I cannot thank you enough for the compassion and care and love you shared for my mother. God bless you, Olivia!”

Soon after recovering at the hospital in Nashville, Smith was taken to a nursing home in Cookeville, Tennessee, where she sadly passed away a few days later.

Nurse Nuefelder said that she was glad she had the opportunity to comfort Smith in her last days. “There was almost a sense of peace knowing that it was her favorite song, and she did tell me it’s the song she wants to be played at her funeral,” Nuefelder said.

“She didn’t feel like a patient at the time. I wanted her to know that she was loved even if her family wasn’t able to be there,” she continued. “Knowing that she will be dancing in the heavens and singing with the angels helps me find peace during this somber time. This experience has challenged me in many ways.”

Here is the emotional video of their time together.
