In 1957, Rosa and Russo Dias got married. They were on a tight budget at the time, so they were unable to hire a photographer.
Now, Rosa and Russo live in Cordeiropolis, Brazil. They have nine children and 16 grandchildren. This year, they are celebrating their 60th anniversary.
David Balatonfuredi is a photographer based out of Sao Paulo. He heard that the couple had never gotten wedding photos, so he decided to step up.
“My friend knows their family and knew they were celebrating a 60-year anniversary this year and that they didn’t have their wedding pictures,” he shared with the Huffington Post. “Many, many times a marriage does not last this long, most times not even close to it, so it was pretty clear they were a very special couple.”
Balatonfuredi and his team decided that they knew the best way to celebrate this 60th anniversary. He shared, “We all thought it would be a great idea to celebrate with pictures.”
Balatonfuredi and his team weren’t the only ones to help the couple celebrate their anniversary. Vendors from all over Sao Paulo pitched in.
Rosa was able to wear a brand new dress from a local designer. Russo received a free suit to wear. A nearby wedding venue allowed them to use their location all-expenses-paid.
What made this wedding shoot even more special is that their family was able to be there to watch. Their kids and grandkids were there to commemorate their beautiful marriage and help them remember the day of their wedding.
According to the photographer, Rosa and Russo were the perfect pair. “We’ve shot a lot of couples, but they had a special glow and connection that gave us so much hope,” he said. “They represented what an ideal marriage and partnership should be about.”
What a sweet, inspirational couple! It’s incredible that their family was there to help them celebrate their anniversary with these special photos.
