In a perfect world, dinner meals would take minutes to prepare. For most of us, the weeknight dinners tend to be stressful and time-consuming. Here are some tips to make your meals faster and easier.
1. Prepare your dinner in the morning
In order for your dinner plans to go smoothly, prepare your ingredients in the morning before you leave for work. For example, if you are having some form of protein that is in your freezer, take it out and place it in the fridge for defrosting. Be aware that attempting to defrost your raw meat on the counter can potentially cause the meat temperature to reach the danger zone where bacteria will begin to grow rapidly.
2. Use your slow cooker
This is still one of the best inventions around. Find a simple recipe and toss all your ingredients in before you leave for work in the morning.
Once you finish dinner and there are leftovers, wrap them up and put them in the fridge for tomorrow’s lunch. It’s a great way to clean up and pack lunches all in one step.
4. Double Recipes
This is a great way to get more bang for your buck. By doubling, or even tripling, your recipes you can make your meals go a lot further.
5. Collect Recipes
Having a stash of recipes will make it easier for quicker meal decisions. Also, by having recipes on hand, you will begin to know exactly which ingredients you will need going forward.
6. Organize Leftovers
This one is important. Having labels on your leftovers will make for quicker finds in your refrigerator and freezer. Also, it is important to date your leftovers to ensure the items will be eaten within an appropriate amount of time.
