Government health officials have issued a warning to parents and seniors who may be either drinking it themselves or giving this drink to their children.
The maker of one of the most popular North America's best known "dense nutrition" drinks is recalling an unspecified number of these products that has left one person ill. These kinds of drinks are typically given to children, the elderly, or sick adults.
Although the status of the illness was not immediately available, the recall notice for Abbott Nutrition stated that these products were potentially contaminated with some form of bacteria.
According to "Global News," the Chicago-based company is recalling products under the following brand names: Ensure Plus, PediaSure, Jevity, and TwoCal, among others. These formulated liquid nutrition products come in 235-ml metal cans.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is urging people not to consume, and if consumers have these products inside their home, they are asked to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase. The warning has also been issued at nursing homes and hospitals.
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's website, the type of bacteria was not disclosed. Also, the health officials stated that a consumer complaint was what caused the product recall.
