Photos: Alabama Residents Ask For Prayers as Tornadoes Ravage the State

A strong storm system moved across Alabama early this week and as many as 10 tornadoes were confirmed to touch down.

 

The strongest of these was an EF-3 tornado that passed through the city of Jacksonville and caused significant damage to the city.

Jacksonville State University’s campus was especially hit hard by the tornado and the university remains closed as the cleanup process is still underway.

Officials have warned students and staff to stay away from campus as there are many downed trees and power lines throughout campus.

There were three other noteworthy tornadoes in this storm system, the Elkmont-Ardmore tornado (EF-2, 125 mph winds), Horton tornado (EF-2, 112 mph winds), and the Ashville-Southside tornado (EF-2, 120 mph winds).
