Happiness coming out of the music industry this week, when 44-year-old stock superstar Alanis Morissette announced that she and her husband are expecting their third child later this year.
Morissette rose to spectacular fame during the '90s with her blockbuster album, ‘Jagged Little Pill,’ showcasing her mega-hit ‘You Oughta Know’ that gained attention because of its explicit lyrics.
From there, Morissette’s fame skyrocketed and she’s held her own for the better part of two decades.
For the last nine years, after Morissette became a mother, the singer/songwriter's attention has turned in another direction. And she is now sharing the spectacular news with her fans.
In 2010, Alanis married Mario ‘Souleye’ Treadway and welcomed their first child, a son named Ever Imre, on Christmas Day that same year. Daughter Onyx Solace joined the family in June 2016.
Morissette and Treadway made the happy announcement via social media with a stunning black and white photo of the singer in front of a microphone, her blossoming baby bump, front and center.
Taking on a third pregnancy carries some risk, and not just because of her age. After both of her previous pregnancies, Alanis suffered from severe postpartum depression.
Through her struggle, however, she worked hard to educate women about the condition, hoping to break the stigma attached.
Morissette says she feels a strong kinship with other moms who have suffered as she has.
“There’s this version of eye contact that I have with women who have been through postpartum depression where it’s this silent, ‘Oh my God, I love you. I’m so sorry’.”
Hopefully, she will be spared that debilitating condition this time around.
Will you join us in wishing Alanis and Mario all the best as they await the arrival of their bundle of joy? And please pray that she is spared the crippling postpartum difficulties with this birth.
