Police have stepped up their efforts in the search for a missing eight-month-old Indiana girl after conflicting reports emerge about when she was last seen.

Now, authorities believe the Amiah Robertson to be in “imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.”

Indiana State Police issued a statewide 'Silver Alert' in the hopes of locating her more quickly.

An ‘Alert’ was not issued because Amiah was not originally thought to be in danger. Now, with the additional information, that has changed.

A 'Silver Alert' differs from an 'Amber Alert' in subtle ways.

The confusing story started on either Thursday or Friday of last week - depending upon whom you ask - when Amiah’s father, Robert Lyons, was to have dropped the infant off at a baby-sitter’s house. But the sitter said the child never showed up.

The mom, Amber Robertson said that she had gotten into “an argument with Lyons on the same night, and that’s when she became worried about the baby. She contacted police the following day.”

Details of the altercation were shared by Amber’s dad, Chuck Robertson. He told a local news outlet that the argument escalated into violence, culminating in Lyons' hitting Amber with his car.

“[Lyons] physically abused my daughter and it escalated to where he ran a car into her,” Chuck Robertson told WISH-TV.

“He sideswiped her with the front of the car and took off.”

Lyons was arrested on March 17th and charged with criminal recklessness and leaving the scene of an accident.

“Witnesses reportedly said that the alleged fight may have occurred over Amiah’s paternity.”

Even though Amber has said that he is not the biological father of the child, Lyons continues to refer to himself as her father.

Until more is known, police continue to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the eight-month-old missing endangered infant.

Amiah is described as having “blue eyes, brown hair, and weighs around 16 pounds.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Detective Anthony Weaver with the IMPD Missing Persons Unit at 317-327-6160.

And please pray that Amiah is found safe - and SOON!
