Avondale police are on the grounds of La Joya Community High School due to a potential threat. The Tolleson Union High School District said that the high school was placed on lockdown at around 11 a.m. on October 15, 2018.
Neither school officials or the police have stated why the school was placed on lockdown. They did, however, send an autodialer to the parents. According to reports, a follow-up letter will be sent out later today.
"We are currently conducting an investigation at La Joya High School. The school is currently on lockdown for precaution. At this time we ask that you please avoid coming to the school. We will be posting updates as more information becomes available," Avondale Police Department wrote on Twitter.
