On Wednesday, October 17, at around 4:55 p.m. a 4-year-old boy had been shot and wounded during an apparent road rage case which started when one vehicle reportedly cut off another in Wichita, Kansas, according to "KSNT."
Wichita Police Chief Gordon Ramsay said that the 4-year-old boy was one of six children inside a blue Chevrolet Tahoe SUV when a person driving a silver Ford Mustang fired two shot at the vehicle. Also inside the Tahoe, was a 23-year-old man, his wife, and his sister.
Investigators determined that the Tahoe and the Mustang were driving on Broadway at 13th Street when “there was some type of cutting-off that turned this into a road rage incident,” Ramsay said.
According to local news channel "The Wichita Eagle," a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said that dispatch was notified of a young child that had been shot near 10th and Topeka. When first responders arrived, the boy was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition with an abdominal wound.
The boy was in the rear of the vehicle, sitting on the passenger side seat. He is now in stable, but critical condition, as of Thursday morning.
The driver of the Mustang and the shooter fled the scene. A short while later, police discovered the car, and they have now taken them in for questioning.
According to "KAKE," jail records indicate that 19-year-old Tylin Atkinson and 21-year-old Ramonyka Smith were the individuals in the Mustang. They were charged with aggravated battery, criminal discharge of a firearm, and traffic charges. They were booked late Wednesday night.
