It's an outcome that no parent would ever want to live through, but for one family in Indiana, it was their worst nightmare. When 17-year-old Breana Rouheslang disappeared from her home around 11:00 pm Saturday night, her parents immediately knew something was wrong. But they never dreamed it would end this way.
Breana was a Junior at Mishawaka High School and was six months pregnant with a baby reportedly fathered by 16-year-old football player Aaron Trejo. The two had known each other since grade school and were thought to be boyfriend and girlfriend.
On the night of Breana's disappearance, though, a series of events transpired that ended in the death of both Breana and her unborn baby.
Here is the timeline of what happened that fateful night:
"When police were called out around 4:30 Sunday morning Breana’s mother said she had gone behind the house to talk with a juvenile male who was the father of her baby, according to court documents."
"Breana’s mother couldn’t find her anywhere so she called police. Officers found some of Breana’s clothing with blood on it in an alley in after searching the area more they found her concealed in a dumpster."
"Trejo originally told police he reached out to her to see how her pregnancy was going. He also told her police that neither he nor Breana wanted the baby."
"Trejo later told police, when confronted with the evidence, that he stabbed her in the heart because she waited too long to tell him about the pregnancy and then put a black plastic bag over her."
After putting her in the dumpster he took her phone and the knife he used to kill her and threw it in the river. He told investigators he had been thinking about and planning to kill Brianna and the baby for about a week, according to court documents
"The autopsy confirmed that she died from multiple stab wound and her scarf had been tied so tightly that she was being strangulated before she died, investigators concluded it was homicide."
Please pray for both families and all those affected by this unspeakable tragedy.
JUST IN: 16-year-old Aaron Trejo is expected to make his first court appearance on December 11. He is facing a possible 85 years in prison if he's convicted of both Breana's murder and the death of Breana's unborn child.
