Favorite Retailer Closing 46 Locations This Quarter, Loyal Customers Stunned By Distressing News

May 02, 2019

In a shocking announcement that has customers alarmed and upset, CVS Health has declared that it will be closing 46 of its locations.

The closures come on the heels of the corporation's intended shift away from retail business to more healthcare-oriented services.

The list includes the ‘flagship’ location in Springfield, Missouri often referred to as the company’s largest store ever, at 64,000 square feet in size.

CVS CEO Larry Merlo told USA TODAY that “the company plans to reduce floor space dedicated to retail products and instead begin offering more health care services.”

CVS wants consumers to understand that the organization remains “solidly profitable" in its overall performance.

According to USA Today, “The company expects to record an operating profit of between $11.8 billion and $12 billion this year.”

Economy analysts are praising CVS’ preemptive strike against the overwhelming presence of online companies.

“Drugstore chains have not been immune to upheaval roiling the retail industry and the health care sector.

“CVS is bracing for the likelihood of Amazon's entry into prescription drugs after the online giant acquired startup PillPack.”

Shifting the company’s focus from the highly-competitive world of retail sales into healthcare services should stave off the complete domination by Walmart, Amazon, and the like.

Those whose jobs are being eliminated having a difficult time focusing on the long-term health of the corporation - with unemployment looming in the near future.

We sincerely hope those employees will find satisfactory employment elsewhere before they start to feel the pinch.
