Video: Demolition Goes Wrong When 170-Foot Silo Falls the Wrong Way

April 09, 2018

A planned silo detonation in Vordingborg, Denmark went wrong last week when it fell the exact opposite way it was intended.

Luckily, no one was injured in the demolition, but the library next door was crushed by the fallen structure.

Watch the failed demolition in the video below.

The demolition had been planned for six months prior to the incident, and an investigation is underway into what exactly went wrong.

The mayor of the town, Mikael Smed, said that the area of the demolished silo is being cleaned up and that a structural assessment of the damaged library is being carried out.

The library says that even though many books were covered in dust, there was little structural damage to the interior.

There is no word on whether this is the last job by this demolition crew or not.
