Shots Fired: 2 Officers Shot — 1 In Critical Condition; Requesting Prayers

There comes some tragic news coming out of District Heights, Maryland late Wednesday evening. Two police officers were shot, and one of them is listed as critical condition.

On Wednesday, September 19, at around 10:30 p.m. two police officers from Prince George's County approached an apartment door in the 2700 block of Loring Drive to issue a drug search warrant. When no one responded, the officers began to use a tool to open pry the door open, according to "WUSA9."

Officials said that when the officers opened the door, they saw a man armed with a shotgun. The man fired the gun once, and the pellets hit two police officers. One officer was hit in the hand and arm. The other officer was hit in the shoulder, according to reports. The officer who was the point person fired one round but missed the suspect.

While the rest of the team entered the apartment, the tactical medic rushed to aid the injured officers. The officers arrested the suspect and took him into custody. There was another person inside the apartment but they were not armed; they were considered a witness and they were also taken into custody.

The injured officers were taken to a nearby school where they were later airlifted by helicopter to Baltimore Shock Trauma. At this time, the officers' identities and the suspect's identities have not yet been released. There are no further details available at this time.
