Although the Dallas County Medical Examiner has positively identified the body of a female found in a flooded creek on January 21st as that of missing mom, Emily Wade, questions still remain.
The answers to which are weighing heavily on the minds and hearts of a nation that was so captivated by the story of the young Ennis, Texas mom who went missing after visiting a friend for a relaxing evening of drinks and a movie.
“Ellis County Justice of the Peace in Precinct 1, Chris Macon, confirmed Wednesday, the body of missing Ennis mother Emily Wade has been positively identified.
“Her death was ruled accidental as there was no trauma or evidence of foul play.”
The story began on the evening of January fifth when Emily went to a co-worker’s home to watch a movie. The last anyone saw or heard from her was around 8:30 pm when the 38-year-old got into her mother’s 2012 Nissan Altima to drive to the home in Ennis she shared with her seven-year-old daughter and her mom, Shirley Wade.
“This is the worst nightmare a mother could ever go through... not knowing anything,” her mother, Shirley Wade, told Fox affiliate KDFW. “She said she’d be gone a couple hours and I believed her. And I still believe she was planning on coming on home.”
According to Fox News, Emily’s mother, the co-worker with whom Emily said she was going to spend the evening, and Emily’s ex-boyfriend and father of her daughter Jared Jones had all been cleared by the police as suspects in the disappearance. That was before the body was found. and the Medical Examiner was able to determine that the cause of death was accidental.
Over two weeks later, her lifeless body was discovered in a flooded creek bed on her route home. There had been reports of flooding in that creek the night Emily disappeared, and Police now have a theory of what may have happened.
Police believe Wade was trying to drive home, but made an "errant turn," leading her down an unfamiliar road. They believe the flood waters may have swept her away. There has been no trace of the car Emily had been driving.
Now authorities are hoping to find out what became of the missing vehicle, thinking it is bound to turn up eventually. Then, maybe, the family can get the answers to the lingering questions about Emily’s final moments of life.
The Ennis Police Department said they wish to “share their appreciation for all of the volunteers and assisting agencies that have spent countless hours over the past two weeks searching for Emily Wade.”
Please join us in praying for Emily’s family in the face of this terrible accident. Pray for peace and comfort during their terribly difficult time of grief over the loss of Emily Wade.
