A breakthrough at Google might have brought us one step closer to a robotic future. DeepMind, Google's artificial intelligence (or A.I.) company, created a simulated environment in which a movable model was presented to the A.I.
The A.I. had to walk the model across a number of obstacles and challenges. It was not shown where it was to walk beforehand before hand and had to teach itself how to move.
After a series of trial and error, it finally managed to 'walk' through each virtual obstacle presented to it. However, as you can see for yourself in the video below, it still does not quite know what to do with its arms just yet.
