Grandpa Gave Random Toddler $20 In Target—The Reason Why Is Heartbreaking

January 23, 2018

Alyssa Hacker was shopping in Target with her two-year-old son. As two-year-olds are prone to do, Owen was giggly and happy to be out shopping.

Owen usually greets other shoppers as they pass him. Usually shopper smile and move along. This time, though, the shopper was touched by Owen’s greeting and stopped to greet him back.

Owen’s greeting was a quick yell, “Hello!” His greeting was directed at an older man walking by. Instead of moving on like most shoppers, this man responded, saying, “Hey, sweet boy.”

Owen had grabbed three stuffed dinosaurs because he couldn’t make his mind up on only one. Alyssa was prompting her son to choose just one toy.

When the old man saw this, he pulled out a $20 bill and tucked in Owen’s shirt pocket. According to him, “I just lost my 2-year-old grandson last week. You take this money and buy this boy all three dinosaurs.”

After giving Owen a quick pat on the back, he walked off. Before he could leave, though, Owen yelled, “Thank you!” The man turned and yelled, “Boomer sooner!”

This man chose to bless Owen, even though he has just gone through such a tragedy. Owen, through his bubbliness, was able to shine a small light of joy in this man’s life.

It’s amazing how the smallest actions can have the biggest impact on those around us. Alyssa, Owen, and the old man were all blessed by this interaction.
