If Royal fans were looking forward to catching another glimpse of the newest member of the British Royal Family at his upcoming christening, they are going to be a little disappointed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced that they will be having Archie christened at a private ceremony next weekend, a huge departure from what the public has grown accustomed to with the current generation of royal babies.
William and Kate, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge allowed their children’s religious rites to be enjoyed by the public by staging photo opportunities both before and after the ceremonies.
Their idea of ‘private’ meant no photographers inside the chapel where George, Charlotte, and Louis’ christenings took place.
Harry and Meghan, however, have taken the ‘privacy’ aspect of the event to the next level.
Baby Archie, “is getting christened at the Queen's private chapel in Windsor, England, next Saturday.”
They will not be allowing the media to have access to their little family - neither before nor after the ceremony inside the famed St. George’s Chapel where the couple was married in 2018.
Instead, royal watchers will have to be satisfied with carefully selected official photographs that the Duke and Duchess have promised to release a day or two later.
The venue is rather small and intimate, so the guest list is expected to be 25 people or fewer.
The small affair is said to include only members of the immediate families.
According to ABC News, “Prince Charles and his wife Duchess Camilla will be in attendance, along with Prince William and Duchess Kate, who just announced a royal trip in the fall to Pakistan.
“Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, will also attend. Queen Elizabeth II, however, won't be able to make it due to a prior engagement.
"So christening news, if you wanted some:
Baby Archie will be christened on Saturday 👶
It will be a private service in the Queen’s Private Chapel in Windsor Castle ⛪️
There will be around 25 family/friends present 👨👩👧👦
No press but pictures will be released by Team Sussex after"
The christening comes just one week after Meghan made a surprise visit with her husband to the first Major League Baseball game in London.
She and Harry were photographed posing with both the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox teams. Both organizations presented the new parents with adorable gifts for their newborn son - personalized jerseys of their respective teams.
This was only the third time the Duchess has been seen by the public since giving birth on May sixth.
We look forward to seeing the undoubtedly adorable photograph of the newest prince in his christening attire. And patiently await the day when we get to see him up close!
