A customer claimed to have found a hidden camera in a public restroom of a Starbucks coffee shop earlier this month, according to "The Atlanta Journal-Constitution."
The camera was allegedly taped near a bathroom stall in a Starbucks in north Fulton County in Atlanta, Georgia.
Authorities with the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety has since confiscated the camera and have confirmed that there are about 25 videos stored on the device. There are "several" videos that show people using the bathroom.
The woman who found the camera is a 25-year-old from McRae-Helena. She discovered the device under the baby changing station at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17.
“We were quite concerned to learn this and are grateful to our customers and partners who took action to involve local authorities,” a spokesperson for Starbucks wrote in an email. “We will continue to support them in any way we can.”
Investigators said that the woman grabbed the camera and told the Starbucks manager. The manager allegedly told the woman that she would call the corporate office, but the woman strongly encouraged she should call the police.
Once the police arrived after the manager filed a report with corporate, the police found out that the camera had a battery backup pack and a USB cord.
No suspects have been identified yet.
