One classic question that we often hear is “How many licks does it take to get to the center of a lollipop?”
This may seem like a pointless question, but nevertheless, many people have tried to come up with an answer.
A group of engineering students from Purdue University claimed that it took about 364 licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop using a “licking machine.” However, when 20 students tried, they only took an average of 252 licks.
The University of Cambridge arrived at a much higher number: 3,481 licks. Maybe the Purdue students were just licking the lollipop 10 times as hard as the Cambridge students.
Unsatisfied with the information at hand, an elementary student decided to answer the question himself. Unfortunately, he makes a hilarious, but a perhaps inevitable mistake as he conducted his independent study.
The whole thing was caught on video, which has now gone viral with over 6.8 million views on Twitter. Watch it all unfold in the video below!
