Idaho Nurse Pleads Guilty In Kelsey Berreth Investigation; Set To Testify Against Patrick Frazee

February 08, 2019

Krystal Jean Lee Kenney, the Idaho nurse who was arrested and charged with evidence tampering in the Kelsey Berreth disappearance, appeared in court Friday. She faced the judge to answer charges that she hampered the investigation by concealing evidence.

In a deal worked out with prosecutors, Kenney, 32, “accepted the plea deal at her advisement hearing Friday in exchange for her testimony against Patrick Frazee, Berreth's fiancé and alleged killer.”

Kenney said, "I knew Patrick Frazee committed a homicide.” Yet, she chose to assist him in concealing his part in the alleged murder.

"Idaho nurse Krystal Jean Kenney officially pleads guilty to a felony charge of tampering with evidence in the Kelsey Berreth murder case. Kenney, a former Magic Valley rodeo queen, has made a plea deal which includes testifying against Patrick Frazee"

Kenney is accused of taking Kelsey’s cell phone back to Idaho with her, where a ‘ping’ was recorded three days after her Thanksgiving Day disappearance. She said she did it with the “intent to impair the investigation.”

“In a statement before a Teller County judge, Idaho woman Krystal Lee Kenney said she ‘learned Patrick Frazee had committed a homicide on approximately November 22, 2018’ and moved Kelsey Berreth's phone in order to impair the investigation.”

The nurse, who lives in Hansen, Idaho faces 18 months to three years in prison for the felony crime of tampering with evidence. The length of her term depends on “whether a judge finds aggravating circumstances. She is eligible for probation and community corrections.”

As part of her plea agreement, Kenney is barred from speaking to the press.

In spite of her part in the case and reported romantic relationship with Frazee, Kenney has not been implicated directly in the disappearance and alleged murder of Berreth.

“Like her arrival, when leaving, deputies shielded Idaho nurse, who plead guilty to hiding evidence in a murder, from media.”

Kenney is expected, however, to take the stand against Frazee when he goes to trial for five counts, including first-degree murder.

Kelsey’s body has ever been recovered, but authorities believe the 29-year-old mom of one-year-old Kaylee, was killed on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018, in her home in Woodland Park, Colorado. She and Frazee had met that day to exchange custody of their daughter.

Investigators aren't saying what they think happened to her after that, but they do believe she is deceased.

Kelsey's parents maintain custody of one-year-old Kaylee.

Please continue to pray for Kelsey and for all those involved in this horrific case.
