One week after making a trip to Los Angeles and disappearing without a trace, a 30-year-old Colorado woman has been found. Investigators had been searching for her in the Malibu area, hoping that she would be found alive. But, sadly, that was not to be.
Authorities have announced that the body of Jennifer Michelle Lorber was discovered in the Pacific Ocean on Thursday morning.
“Divers with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office said they found the body 30-year-old Jennifer Michelle Lorber during a search on Thursday morning.”
According to police, “Jennifer Michelle Lorber, 30, vanished May 23, after checking into a motel along Pacific Coast Highway.
“Her rental 2018 Toyota Rav4 was found abandoned 3 days later. Her body was found around 9 a.m. Thursday approximately 675 feet from the shoreline of Paradise Cove in Malibu.”
Beyond confirming that they had found the missing woman’s body, police are not saying any more about the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death.
Earlier in the week, the possibility of suicide weighed heavily on everyone’s mind after Lorber’s family revealed that she suffered from depression and that they were extremely worried about her wellbeing.
“After an exhaustive search for Missing Person Jennifer Lorber, @SEBLASD divers located the remains of a female adult near the #ParadiseCove shoreline. Positive ID of the remains will be determined at [a] later date.”
“To date, it remained unclear if Lorber a jewelry designer may have chosen to take her own life and if so, why? Or whether she was the victim of foul play?” For now, police are not saying.
The investigation into the final hours of Lorber’s life is ongoing.
“Authorities are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500.”
Please join us in praying for this young woman’s family in their time of grief.
