On Saturday, November 10, Aerosmith's Joe Perry was rushed to a New York City hospital after performing with Billy Joel at the Madison Square Garden, according to "TMZ."
After performing "Walk This Way," Perry, 68, went back to his dressing room where he collapsed. When paramedics arrived and worked on Joe for about 40 minutes in his dressing room before he was taken to the hospital.
"[He] looked terrible," a source at the concert told "TMZ," later added that the room had a panic vibe.
Another eyewitness said that "Joe did not look good."
Billy Joel was still on stage during the final minutes of his concert and was unaware of what was happening with the famed Aerosmith guitarist.
"TMZ" shared an update on Perry: He has been having "breathing issues for the last few weeks and it came to a head last night." The source said that he has congestion in his lungs.
As of Sunday afternoon, a source said that Perry is still in the hospital but "he's awake, doing well, and could be released early as Sunday afternoon."
Hours later, Perry's representative released a statement regarding his condition, and informed fans that he remains in the hospital:
"Following a guest performance during Billy Joel's show last night at Madison Square Garden, Joe Perry experienced shortness of breath and was treated backstage by paramedics who gave the guitarist oxygen and used a tracheal tube to clear his airway before taking him to a hospital," the rep explained.
"This morning Perry remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive. The Aerosmith guitarist will be unable to appear today at Rock And Roll Fantasy Camp in Florida and apologizes to those attending. Perry is expected to return to the road later this month."
As of Tuesday, Perry took to Twitter to update his fans.
"Doing well, thanks for all the love and support!"
