Jerry Springer Is Back! And His New Show Promises To Be A HUGE Change From What We're Used To - But We're Not Sure We Can Believe It...

November 26, 2018

He’s Baaackk!! One of daytime television's most ubiquitous figures is coming back in a regular series starting in 2019.

“Talk show host Jerry Springer is getting a new TV role as 'Judge Jerry,' where he’ll hear testimony and render verdicts before a studio audience.”

According to The Daily Beast, “‘Judge Jerry’ will hear testimony and bring verdicts before a studio audience.”

And fans have mixed feelings about it. They took to social media to express their thoughts on the return of the 74-year-old Springer to a show entitled, ‘Judge Jerry.’

“Jerry Springer has a new court show called ‘Judge Jerry,’ in case you were wondering how low we’ve sunk as a nation."

And the star, himself, has some insight into the content of the new program, poking a little fun at his colorful past:

“For the first time in my life, I am going to be called honorable”

The former mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, began his career as a lawyer, but in 1991, his life took a decidedly different path, when his world-famous ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ made its debut. Over the course of its 27-year lifespan, The Jerry Springer saw it’s share of controversy, the worst of which was the murder of one of his guests after appearing on the show.

According to Wikipedia, “On July 10, 2002, the sons of guest Nancy Campbell-Panitz – who was murdered by her ex-husband after they appeared on a May 2000 episode with his girlfriend – filed suit in Sarasota County against Springer, his producers, and his distributor, claiming he created 'a mood that led to murder.'

"Ultimately, the estate of Campbell-Panitz dropped all monetary claims against The Jerry Springer Show and the show agreed to waive its claims for malicious prosecution against the personal representative of the estate of Campbell-Panitz and his counsel."

The Jerry Springer Show aired its final episode in July of 2018, but reruns can still be seen on The CW.

Whether or not you were a fan of Springer’s previous show, ‘Judge Jerry’ ought to at least spark your curiosity. It’s not clear at this time what the format will be and if the star will allow his ‘guests’ to get out of control as before, but either way, it’s sure to be entertaining!
