If you ever wonder why you LOVE the Duchess of Cambridge so much, you might take a look at the wise words she shared with attendees of a charity event on Tuesday. Every bit the Royal Duchess, she also opened up and let the real Kate shine. She’s the perfect mix of elegance, grace, and very, very ’real.’
Never one to deny the multitude of amenities offered to members of the Royal Family, Kate still manages to bridge the economic and cultural gap that separates her from the ‘regular’ people. And the public just can’t get enough of this charming woman.
On Tuesday, the Duchess visited a charity in Lewisham, South London, England called 'Family Action' and connected with other parents on the challenges of balancing all the issues facing families today.
And, at the top of the list is hall the dramatic changes the occur when a family welcomes a baby into the fold.
“It’s so hard. You get a lot of support with the baby as a mother particularly in the early days, but after the age of 1 it falls away,” she said during her visit. “After that, there isn’t a huge amount — lots of books to read.”
“Everybody experiences the same struggle,” she added.
That being said, she helped to launch a new resource for parents and caregivers. “The royal was on-hand to launch a new U.K. support line for the charity that uses a network of volunteers from across the country to support parents and caregivers virtually through telephone calls, email and text messaging.”
Women who attended the launch, some who were lucky enough to actually meet the Duchess, were quick to praise her for showcasing the importance of such a support system for families.
One woman, Dawn Daley, 46, couldn’t sing Kate’s praises enough.
“When she came in it felt like just another friend,” Dawn says. “She was really nice, she was easy to talk to and [she] interacted with us all. And she listened. And when we got emotional she was a bit . . . you know!”
So nice to see that no matter if your blood is blue or just regular red like the rest of us, you still struggle to do the very best with your family. With or without nannies, with or without extended family nearby, there are always challenges that sometimes knock the breath out of you.
And Duchess Kate is one of us, at least when it comes to raising kids. So glad she shared…
