The White House Secret Service has recently made announcements concerning the safety of Washington D.C. According to their Twitter page, the Secret Service is searching for multiple suspects that are believed to have made life-threatening statements that concern the public's safety.
Earlier this month, the White House was sent into lockdown after a suspicious vehicle arrived near the White House North Lawn. Officials announced that officers were "alerted to a vehicle at a checkpoint" nearby.
At that time, the North Fence along Pennsylvania Avenue and Lafayette Park were closed. The U.S. Secret Service posted on Twitter saying the following:
"Secret Service Officers and K9 units were alerted to a vehicle at a checkpoint near the @WhiteHouse. The North Fence along Pennsylvania Avenue and Lafayette Park are closed at this time. @DCPoliceDept EOD personnel are responding to the scene."
As the morning went by, local news "Fox56" tweeted: "UPDATE: The vehicle near the White House has been cleared. The North Fence line and Lafayette Park will open shortly. Lockdown is over."
Thankfully, that incident cleared up quickly. However, the U.S. Secret Service recently posted to Twitter stating they are needing the public's help in finding several, potentially dangerous men.
On Wednesday, August 22, the Secret Service informed the United States that they were seeking Shawn Christy and four other unnamed men.
"Shawn Christy is wanted for threatening to kill law enforcement officers, government officials and President Donald Trump," according to the statement.
"Christy is considered armed & dangerous. Christy, is believed to be traveling along the East Coast," the tweet said.
According to another post on Wednesday, officials are searching for three other men who may be dangerous to the capital.
"Secret Service seeking assistance to identify these unknown individuals believed to have made threatening statements in Washington D.C. on Aug. 12, 2018," the statement read.
Just one minute later, the Secret Service posted another wanted individual.
"Secret Service seeking assistance to identify this unknown individual believed to have made threatening statements in Washington D.C. on August 12, 2018," the statement said.
