The innocuous red and white hat that has become a favorite fashion accessory for patriots who support President Donald Trump in his efforts to "Make America Great Again," has gotten a bum rap the past few weeks. First, it was the heavily-spun story about the naughty Covington Catholic High School boys who were convicted in the press of 'racist' behavior while attending a Right to Life rally in Washington D.C.
Then it was actor Jussie Smollett's claim that he was assaulted by MAGA hat-wearing white guys on the streets of Chicago.
Next, we heard of a California restaurant whose owner proudly announced that he would not serve anyone wearing a MAGA hat.
“It hasn’t happened yet, but if you come to my restaurant wearing a #MAGA cap, you aren’t getting served, same as if you come in wearing a swastika, white hood, or any other symbol of intolerance and hate."
His announcement brought all the crazies out of the woodwork, piling on his statement with outrageous parallels between the cap and historical symbols of hatred and racism.
“You wear a MAGA hat = your support for the Muslim ban, denying people health care, and separating families. You don’t have to chant ‘build that wall’ your hat says it for you."
But, the topper of all toppers had to be when a Congressman jumped into the fray and proposed a ridiculous 'solution' to all of these 'hate crimes' by Trump-supporting wearers of the baseball cap.
“A Member of Congress calling for...what exactly is he calling for? A ban on teenagers wearing MAGA hats?
“You might want to take another look at what happened Congressman. You might want to take this tweet back.”
Wear these MAGA hats especially around Rep John Yarmuth who wants to legally ban them because they “incite violence and hatred.” Really “Mr. Journalist?” And you are for freedom of speech? Whose speech, the global socialists???
“House Budget Committee chair Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY) called Sunday for a ban on teenagers wearing “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hats. Hey Kentucky, you must be really proud of this CREEP. CALL HIS OFFICE TO PROTEST!”
Not only was he lambasted on social media, but he was taken to task so viciously that he quickly tried to brush the whole thing off as a joke! Hahaha. SUCH a funny guy!
But, his back-pedaling only managed to make things worse.
“Rep John Yarmuth (D) of Kentucky says it was a joke. Instead of manning up admitting his atrocious words for denying some their 1A, was a mistake, he tries to brush it off as a joke. Right!
"Would it have been as funny if he had said yamaka [sic] instead of MAGA?”
Let THAT sink in...
