"Merseyside Police were called just after midday today to reports of a man seen carrying a knife near to the Notre Dame Catholic College on Great Homer Street, Liverpool," a police spokesman said, according to reports.
"Following this, a man self-presented at the hospital with wounds consistent with a stabbing.
"The man remains in hospital where his injuries are being assessed while officers remain at the scene carrying out further investigations to establish the full circumstances of the incident," the spokesman said.
Parents are shocked following the incident. One parent said:
"It's worrying, but not surprising considering what's going on around the city currently with knives. I think it's gotten out of hand."
Another parent said that she received a text message from her daughter about the police activity. She said it was "scary" and that there is "more and more of it happening."
