A tragic event has crossed the newsroom this morning. An explosion broke out in Superior, Wisconsin at Husky Energy oil refinery at approximately 10:06 a.m.
According to local news channel "KQDS," the Superior Police Department tweeted asking anyone nearby to stay away due to a "large incident."
Over 180 employees work there and are being evacuated from the building.
"At approximately 10:06 today Superior Fire Department responded to a report of an explosion at Husky Refinery in Superior," the Superior Fire Department said in a statement. "There is a report of multiple casualties. Initial reports are at least 6 transported – No report on severity of injuries. Multiple agencies have responded."
The Superior School District stated that nearby schools do not need to be evacuated and that they "will be keeping all students in the building."
At this time, there are no fatalities that have been reported. At least 20 were injured, and six have been transported to a local hospital. ABC reported that the scene is contained.
