Matt Lauer was fired last November from sexual misconduct and removed from his anchor position from the "Today Show." A new report is claiming that he is scheming a "secret comeback" with NBC. "Gossip Cop" has since debunked this claim.
According to "RadarOnline," Lauer is "secretly plotting his return to television,” and is “convinced he can overcome the sordid sexual harassment allegations that got him kicked to the curb.”
The so-called "source" is quoted saying that "Matt and his people think if enough time passes, he will be forgiven.” They also believe that he is only "guilty" of a "consensual affair," and was “unfairly caught up in the rash of #MeToo abusers and did nothing that merited getting fired.”
The publication's untraceable "source" also claims that he has been "spotted skulking around NBC’s Rockefeller Center studios," and that he's "been meeting with loads of his former producers, including Deborah Kosofsky and Don Nash. He’s trying to convince them to either help him return to 'Today.'"
The claim says the ratings for "Today" have dropped with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, but the "source" says that Lauer believes “those numbers should be more than enough to convince the network to bring him back.”
Despite the poor ratings claim, NBC just released in a press release saying, "'Today' Is #1 Again," and that it was the number-one morning show last week beating out ABC's "Good Morning America."
