The Duchess of Sussex, or Meghan Markle as she is known stateside, has had to learn so many new ways of doing things since marrying her Prince Charming last May.
And one of the biggest changes for her is having to keep a lot of things to herself that she might have openly shared in her former life as a Hollywood actress.
But, it is what it is, and her fans are slowly adjusting to the reality that finding out about what’s REALLY going on in Meghan’s life is going to be a frustrating endeavor.
Take for example her faith. We all know that the former Meghan Markle was raised Christian and attended an all-girl Catholic School in Los Angeles. We also know that the future ‘Mrs. Prince Harry’ also converted to the Anglican Faith before her marriage into the Royal Family.
Her seeming ability to toss aside the faith she was raised in for a new one raised eyebrows for some who questioned the depth of her Christian faith.
But now, we are learning that the story is not at all like that. Even though the Duchess is extremely private about her faith (and just about everything else for that matter) those closest to her have seen the real Meghan and would like people to know the truth.
In an exclusive interview with People magazine, one of Meghan’s close friends gives some insight into the Duchess’ faith and prayer life. And what she had to say just might surprise you.
“She and Harry are both very grounded. She has a firm understanding of the things she can and can’t control. And she tries not to put any effort into the things she can’t control.”
“Meg is extremely faithful,” a longtime friend tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story. “We pray a lot together. We meditate. She has had, and especially has now, a very close relationship with God.”
Her friend says that, without her strong sense of faith and her intimate relationship with God, the Duchess may not have been able to navigate the sometimes stormy waters of Royal life.
Although things may appear very different on the surface, Meghan’s faith has been the pillar that has guided her throughout her whirlwind engagement and marriage to Prince Harry. And even though it seems funny to hear this about someone who worked in the entertainment industry for many years it is, nonetheless true, according to her friends.
“A deep sense of gratitude and humility has guided her.” Not the lights and glamour associated with her job.
“We can still be modern women and feel all the feels with feminism and be strong moms and strong wives but understand that [our] relationship [with God] is so critical.”
“Her lifestyle can be very isolating. The rest of us get to go out, see each other for coffee, just go, ‘I’m having a [bad] day, I’m going to have lunch or do a little shopping.’ She can’t. So you kind of have to look inward and go, ‘How can I be part of my own solution?’ And that’s really challenging.”
We are so glad to hear that Meghan has discovered this powerful source of strength and comfort. We pray that she continues to grow in her faith and relationship with God as she looks ahead to becoming a mother in a very short time.
