Unhappy About Being Kept Away From Royal Birth, Meghan’s Dad Has A LOT To Say About His New Grandson

May 06, 2019

In what could have been an awkward and tense situation, the Duchess of Sussex’ family has started to weigh in on the news that the former Meghan Markle has given birth to a royal son.

Thomas Markle, Sr. who has been publicly on the outs with his daughter across the pond, has made an official comment on the birth of his new grandson.

The as-yet-unnamed little boy made his appearance early Monday morning (London time) and the whole world was instantly head-over-heels enamored with the new addition to the royal family.

First came the official announcement via Meghan and Harry’s Instagram account:

Then came the widely circulated intimate live feed (now video) that the Duke of Sussex made shortly after the birth. In it he thanks their supporters and tells us that the whole family will meet with the press in “two days’ time.”

Then, we heard from the new grandpa, Thomas.

The American grandfather of the new British prince has had his share on conflict with the Royal Family - and his daughter - ever since she became engaged to Prince Harry.

If you’ll recall, Meghan’s dad was all set to walk the bride down the aisle aaa the May 19, 2018 wedding, but then all heck broke loose.

Thomas was caught staging photographs which did not go over too well with his daughter - or the Royal Family. Out of sheer embarrassment, Markle then pulled out of the wedding.

Then, Meghan reportedly, phoned her dad, urging him to come away. Aaa that time, it appeared that he had relented and agreed to attend.

That’s when Mr. Markle’s health took a dive, the Markel patriarch reportedly suffered a heart attack that necessitated surgery. That was the final straw. He would NOT be attending.

The rest is history. Prince Charles, the father of the groom, walked Meghan down the aisle and her mom, Doria Ragland was the only member of the bride’s family to attend.

Fast forward to October.

When news of the impending baby made it across the Atlantic and across the country, Thomas expressed hope that he would be able to meet his grandchild.

Insiders said that was an unlikely prospect, though, in light of the animosity that had arisen between the family members.

Now that the baby is here, you might expect the new granddad to have a few choice words for the new mom and dad, not the least of which would be to make a plea for absolution from his past sins.

But, that was NOT the case.

Instead, Mr. Markle made a sweet and classy statement, with only good wishes for the new little family.

"I'm delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well," Thomas Markle said in a statement to The Sun.

"I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor."

He continued, "God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen."

The little prince is Mr. Markle’s sixth grandchild. He has five others from the offspring of his marriage before he wed Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.

So, what do you think of Thomas' statement?

If anything can soften the hard feelings between the new mama and her beloved daddy, the birth of a new baby just might be it.

Perhaps, once Meghan and Harry find out what it's like to have a child of their own and get a full dose of the unmatched love a parent has for his or her offspring, it just might give them a reason to reconsider.

And wouldn't it be the perfect fairy tale ending if the 'princess' and her papa could reconcile their differences?

That's what I'm going to pray for!
