Missing 1-Year-Old Michigan Boy Found Alone In Babysitter's Apartment; Requesting Prayers

August 03, 2018

On Thursday, August 2, Michigan police issued an Amber Alert for a missing 1-year-old boy from Grand Rapids. He was taken by his deranged babysitter.

19-year-old Lyesha Catherine Gibbs kidnaped Miquis Lamon Jenkins from his home at the Cambridge Apartments around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. She traveled over 80 miles to Benton Harbor with the young boy. Benton Harbor is where she allegedly lives.

"News 8" managed to get ahold of Gibbs via video phone call. Gibbs said, "just wanted to see him for a minute."

When she was asked if she plans on bringing the child back home, her response was, "Yeah."

According to the child's mother, Laquaya Gillard, Gibbs was only supposed to watch her son for just a few hours, but when the family returned home, their baby boy was gone.

Gillard began to message and call Gibbs through Facebook Wednesday evening. Through the Facebook app, Gillard could see that Gibbs was reading her messages, but Gibbs wasn't responding. Just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night, Gibbs blocked her on Facebook.

Thankfully, on Thursday afternoon, August 2, Jenkins was found, and the Amber Alert was canceled, according to ABC12. However, Gibbs was on the run and police were searching for her. Her neighbors told the police that Gibbs left the child in her apartment shortly after 3 p.m. Gibbs was found later in the Benton Harbor area.

Jenkins was taken to a local hospital to check out for any injuries. Initially, the boy was difficult to wake up which worried his parents. After he was treated at the hospital, he is expected to be OK.

Will you join us in praying for the precious 1-year-old and his family as they are likely traumatized?
