Amber Alert Update: Missing 14-Year-Old Girl Reportedly With Older, Suicidal Man

September 10, 2018

Police issued an Amber Alert last Sunday, September 9, when a young teenage girl went missing from her home in Surprise, Arizona on Saturday. The child who went missing was 14-year-old Aubrey Gardner.

The Surprise Police Department said that Gardner could have been with a man named Jonathan Carson, who is 21-years-old. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says she was abducted, according to "Fox News."

Carson “is the subject of an outstanding felony warrant for deserting from military service and is reported as possibly being suicidal,” authorities said. His last known residence is Sierra Vista, according to reports.

Police believe Carson may be driving a gray and blue 2013 Mazda 3 with a Pennsylvania license plate. However, later on September 9, police say they learned that Carson was driving a different vehicle: a red 2018 Mazda 3. At that time, police did not know where the two may be headed.

Gardner is described as a white female, approximately 5-foot-7-inches tall, and weighs 110 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with the cartoon characters Lilo and Stitch on it, wearing blue jeans, and skateboard shoes with roses imprinted on the toes.

Later Sunday evening, police canceled the Amber Alert. Gardner had been located in Mesquite, Nevada with Carson. Initial reports say that she was unharmed but both Gardner and Carson are in police custody. At this time the relationship between the two is unclear, however, some reports say that the two had been secretly texting.

Please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
