Over the past couple of years, kneeling during the National Anthem has been a big deal. Millions support it, while millions don't.
During the 2018 NFL season, there have been athletes that have taken a knee in protest, but the league has decided not to implement a policy, "at least for this season," according to reports.
As for last Thursday night during the Oakland Raiders and San Fransico 49ers game at Levi's Stadium, a cheerleader decided to kneel. This is something we've never seen before at the NFL level, and it's causing quite the rumble on Twitter.
Raider fan Lenny Herold was the man who captured the moment on his phone during the National Anthem. Within minutes, his tweet went viral with over 6,100 retweets and over 1,100 comments.
Back in 2016 during the NFL preseason, former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the individual who started taking a knee during the National Anthem in protest of racism, police brutality, and other issues. Throughout the years, other athletes in different sports have decided to do the same, while others have stayed in the locker room during the anthem.
