NFL Player Donates His Paycheck to Help Flood Recovery

October 02, 2017

Hurricane Harvey devastated many residents of Houston and they are still recovering from their losses. Many people in Houston are struggling as they attempt to return to their jobs and their normal lives, even though they lost so much.

Meanwhile, Houston’s football team, the Houston Texans, has started their season. One rookie player, Deshaun Watson, has gone above and beyond to help Texans still struggling with their recovery.

Watson has already been a valuable member of the Houston Texans. This year, Watson has been his team’s starting quarterback, contributing to one win and a near upset of the Patriots.

The first game check that Watson received as an NFL player, he decided to split up and give to others. He split the paycheck and gave his earnings to three Texans employees who work in the cafeteria.

When Watson delivered the gifts, he said, “For what you all do for us every day. You never complain. I really appreciate y’all. So I wanted to give my first game check to y’all to help y’all out.”

The women he delivered his earnings to were so appreciative of his gift—one even started tearing up. At the end he even says, “Anything else y’all need, I’m always here to help.”
