Ohio Wants Labrador Retrievers as State Dog—PETA Says ‘No’

Recently, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) stated their objection to having the Labrador Retriever as Ohio’s state dog. Some don't understand PETA's logic. Historically, plenty of states have adopted certain breeds of dogs as their “state dog.”

For instance, Alaska has the Alaskan Malamute:

Louisiana has the Catahoula Leopard Dog:

And Maryland has the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, to name a few:
