One person has died, and two other passengers were injured after a mega yacht collided with a fishing vessel off California near Imperial Beach.
On Friday, October 16, the Coast Guard crew responded to an accident that took the life of one person and injured two. The rescuers were able to save 17 others who were on the fishing boat.
Just before 8 p.m. on Friday, the 332-foot yacht, Attessa IV, smashed into a 65-foot sportfisher vessel, Prowler, causing extensive damage to the right side of the Prowler. The crash was only about nine miles off the shore of Imperial Beach according to "KIVI-TV."
One man was reportedly airlifted to UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center but later died at the hospital. Two others were injured, but there were no reports as to where they were taken or the extent of their injuries.
The Coast Guard crew took the 17 surviving passengers from the wrecked fishing boat back to San Diego. The Coast Guard is investigating the accident.
