It is with great sadness to report such heartbreaking news of a horrific incident that took place in a park near Philadelphia. The search for a 2-year-old girl has ended in tragedy.
Philadelphia police have discovered the body of a toddler in a Logan park on Tuesday, October 16. According to "ABC6," Captain Jack Ryan of the Philadelphia Police Department said that the girl's body was partially buried and part of her head was exposed.
Investigators said that the search began on Monday when the little girl's caregiver reported her missing. The caregiver led the officers to Kemble Park on Ogontz Avenue and West Olney Avenue.
Once day broke early Tuesday morning, the police brought in cadaver dogs and saws and shovels to help with the search. The dogs found something in a wooded area near the park, which prompted the police to investigate.
They discovered the young girl's body just before 11 a.m. Police say that the caregiver is a suspect in this case.
"She was in the custody of this woman; the woman led us to the location where the child was recovered," Ryan said.
"ABC6" reports that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. There are no further details available about the case. Please keep everyone involved in your thoughts and prayers.
