Two people were killed, and one person was left wounded Thursday morning after a man attacked the three outside of Paris, police say.
Investigators are saying that the man with "severe psychiatric problems" stabbed and killed his own mother and sister and seriously wounded another woman in Trappes, according to "USA Today."
"He was known [to police] for advocating terrorism but it seems he was a disturbed person rather than someone who could respond to calls for action from terrorist organizations like Daesh," Collomb told reporters at the scene.
According to "Fox News," the man barricaded himself inside a home after the stabbing attack. Police arrived and shot him dead. The suspect was reportedly known to the intelligence agencies.
France's Gerard Collomb announced that prosecutors are not treating this stabbing attack as terrorism at this time. He said that the man had severe mental health issues, even though he was "flagged" for glorifying terrorism, according to "USA Today."
ISIS described the man as "an Islamic State fighter," in a statement that was issued through the Aamaq news agency, according to "Independent."
The wounded victim was taken to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. The victim was said to just be a passerby; they had no connection to the attacker's family.
