On Tuesday, July 25, a Democratic political advisor and local business leader has passed away after an apparent suicide. According to Pheonix Business Journal, Paul Lopez died outside a church in north-central Phoenix.
Lopez, 46, was found in a parking lot near the Church for the Nations. Authorities say that he committed suicide by setting himself on fire.
The fourth-generation Democratic leader was found with multiple severe burns. When he was found, paramedics rushed him to a local hospital and was in critical condition. He reportedly died at the hospital.
"Paul was a truly amazing man with a beautiful heart, contagious smile and boundless energy," the Lopez family said in a statement.
"He had a quick wit and was very intelligent. He will always be remembered for his commitment to community service and social justice," the statement read.
Lopez was the founder and CEO of the Endeavor Agency, which is a public affairs company he ran for 27 years. During his time here, he served as a consultant for four mayors and was involved with many local, state, and federal candidates.
We are asking our readers to pray for his family as they go through this tragic time.
