During the annual Order of the Garter service on June 18, something was different than years in the past. There were several people who noticed and felt extremely uncomfortable with the subtle hint the Queen portrayed.
It included Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles future roles in the monarchy. While a lot was going on during the decade-long event, other onlookers overlooked this one key moment between the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Queen.
In the past, Charles and Camilla would follow behind the Queen in their own carriage. This year, however, the table has taken a slight turn.
Prince Charles and Camilla were upgraded to the Queen's carriage as they took Prince Philip's empty seat. The three rode together in a horse-drawn carriage during the parade to St. George's Chapel.
The Duchess sat side-by-side with the Queen, while the Prince sat directly across from the two women. Many reports are saying that after the carriage ride, things are going to change. It was a symbolic moment of Prince Charles inevitable ascension to the throne and a gradual shift of power.
