Prince William and Kate Middleton Defy Royal Protocol Just Days Before Major Royal Engagement

June 19, 2018

Last weekend was a very eventful couple of days. With a royal baby announcement and a wedding, the royal family had a lot on their plates.

Prince Harry and Kate Middleton were last seen at the Trooping of the Colour together alongside other royal family members. They were accompanied by the Queen, Harry and Meghan Markle, even their precious children were in attendance.

Just this weekend, Prince William's cousin had a gorgeous wedding. Celia McCorquodale is Princess Diana's niece. Prince Harry and Meghan were spotted celebrating her big day, however, Prince William and Kate were unable to attend.

Many people were wondering why the two royals were absent from their family member's big day. It is a royal protocol for royals to be in attendance at big family engagements. But the two were never to be spotted.

The details have come in and the reason why the two missed their cousin's big day has been revealed.

Kate, who just gave birth to Prince Louis a few months ago, is enjoying the privileges of maternity leave. This means she is required to step aside from her royal duties and take care of her newborn.

"Kate is on maternity leave reportedly until October. Obviously, events such as Meghan and Harry’s wedding and Trooping the Colour were exceptions and Louis is expected to be christened in the summer," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said.

Luckily for royal fans across the globe, they won't won't have to wait much longer to see Kate back in the public spotlight. When it's time for Prince Louis to be christened, she will be front and center.

As for Prince William, he was attending a previous royal engagement that was already set on the calendar. He was in Liverpool at the International Business Festival, which is the largest business event in the world.
