Just days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, Prince William disclosed some exciting news!
Kensington Palace recently shared the news on Twitter Thursday that William will be traveling to Israel, according to "People."
His trip will begin on June 24, and he will tour through Jordan, Israel, and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. He will have stops in Tel Aviv and Ramallah before his last stop in Jerusalem on June 28.
The reason why this is such a big day is that William is the first member of the royal family to travel to Israel on a business trip. He will be at these locations for official business purposes.
In 1994, Prince Philip traveled to Israel for a Yad Vashem ceremony honoring his mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg. Princess Alice opened up her palace in Greece for Jews during the Holocaust.
In 2016, Prince Charles was in Israel to attend a funeral of former President Shimon Peres.
William's upcoming visit was "at the request of Her Majesty’s government and has been welcomed by the Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian authorities,” Kensington Palace wrote.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin shared his excitement via Twitter as well:
“Nechama & I were happy to hear @KensingtonRoyal announcement, and look forward to welcoming #PrinceWilliam, the Duke of Cambridge, on an official visit to the State of #Israel later this year. A very special guest, and a very special present for our 70th year of independence.”
The last tour Prince William was on was in Sweden and Norway in January with his wife, Kate Middleton. While there they visited with schoolchildren at Stockholm, played hockey, and ate lunch with Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, and her parents King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia at Stockholm’s Royal Palace.
