Headlines like this often make us wonder what is wrong with the world sometimes. But at least we know this story has a happy ending.

City police and animal welfare officials of Fort Wayne, Indiana are searching for the person who dumped a live puppy into a trash can, which was picked up and dumped by a trash collector.

---

The city trash collector said that he heard a noise coming from the back of his truck and went to investigate. That’s when he found the puppy in the back of the garbage truck.

Since the trash collector doesn’t know which house along his route he unknowingly picked up a passenger, authorities are asking for help in locating those responsible.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the shelter at 260-427-1244 option 1.

While the puppy did sustain some minor injuries as a result of being stuffed into a trash can, she is expected to make a full recovery.

The good news in this story is that within a few hours of posting the story, the puppy (a pit bull terrier mix named Pearl) was adopted into a loving family!
