On Wednesday, September 19, in Compton, California, law enforcement tells "TMZ" that 65-year-old Richard Jefferson Sr., father of NBA star Richard Jefferson, was standing in front of a liquor store in a residential area in the 600 block of West Peach Street at around 6:52 p.m.

Shortly before 7 p.m., a dark-colored vehicle pulled up carrying several male passengers when at least one person from inside the car opened fire.

"TMZ" reports that Jefferson Sr. was with two other men at the time of the shooting and it is unclear at this time if he was the target.

Jefferson Sr. was struck in the torso multiple times and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
