The big day has arrived! Everyone around the globe has heard the exciting news about the newest royal baby.
According to the Kensington Palace, Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed a healthy baby boy Monday morning. Most people are anticipating the next set of information: the baby's name.
The new royal baby was delivered at 11:01 a.m. local time at St. Mary's Hospital in London, according to Kensington Palace. He was born healthy weighing 8 pounds and 7 ounces.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the statement said. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
4-year-old Prince George was at school, and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte, who will be 3 years old in May, was at home while their parents were at the hospital, according to PEOPLE.
Just like for George and Charlotte's name reveal, it took several days for that announcement. Thankfully, it's finally here!
According to Britain oddsmakers, the most popular names were Albert at 5-1, and Arthur at 9-1. Traditionally, the name will need to be cleared by Queen Elizabeth II; nonetheless, the final choice rests with William and Kate.
"The Queen has the power to say what their title is; she'll decree that they are the Prince of Cambridge," William said.
"But in the case of names, it is more of an informal conversation. Of course they have such respect for the Queen that if she says 'I really don't like that name,' they'd definitely take that into account," William explained.
Prince William and Duchess Kate have decided on the name His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles.
